What is a VPN? What are the advantages of using a VPN?

A vpn is private network that extends a private network across a public network and permits the user to receive and share data without any tracing. It changes your ip temporarily till you are connected to it. It is used in hacking for our security that we should not be traced. But there are softwares that can trace your ip by removing the vpn between you and internet.
Now a question have come to your mind that what are the advantages of using a VPN?
So here it is...
If you are using a public WiFi and doing some important work then your data can be hacker using wireshark so if you use a VPN then you can't be traced.
Some apps and websites are there which are banned in India, so if you want to access it use a vpn to access it by connecting to a countries ip where it is not banned.
Vpn are good to hide our ip and hackers or crackers would not be traced and get caught
Now again a question would have come in your mind that which is the best VPN for android and pc
